There are two folders for akshara {ka.}:
Syllables of type CV e.g. {ka}
and those of type CVÇ e.g. {kaç}
Please note that file-names and glyph-names for computer-use follow Romabama
transcription. However, this concerns only those who are editing this work.
Myanmar syllables rendered in Romabama is of the form CVÇ, where Ç is a killed
consonant (akshara with its inherent vowel killed). Notice how the killed
consonant influences the (English) vowel preceding it. This, I believe, is due
to the changing nature of the English vowels. For discussion, I will be using
the following signs:
-- a faded circle to represent an akshara, e.g.
{ka.} /ka/
-- a "killed" akshara, a flag above a faded circle, e.g.
{k} /k/ - lacking a vowel, it cannot be pronounced
-- an akshara with the vowel u , e.g.
{ku.} /ku/
Four types of syllables based on typography are recognized:
Monosyllabic: 1. kak type
{kak} ; 2. niggahita
{kan°} /kʌn/
Disyllabic: 3. kaka type
{kak~ka.} ;
4. kinsii
{kin~ka.} /kɪn ka/
Since, not all are "words" in themselves, they should be termed "syllables", as
"monosyllables" and "disyllables".
