{a.tûht}
: checking by "killed" c2 consonants
UKT 150122, 160516: Bur-Myan speakers, and Pal-Myan speakers, have difficulty pronouncing syllables with nuclear vowel checked by killed c2 (voiceless) consonants, because in Bur-Myan such syllables are not permitted. Only killed c1 (tenuis) consonants are allowed. Though both c1 & c2 are voiceless, c1 is tenuis-voiceless and c2 is ordinary-voiceless. c3 is voiced, and c4 has a deep-H sound. In Bur-Myan, only c1 is killed: others, from c2 through c4 are not. Thus, Bur-Myan and Pal-Myan speakers can only pronounce and "hear" the vowel checked by "killed" c1 sound. Only
{ût} can be articulated and
{ûht} is pronounced the same as
{ût}. You have no choice but to pronounce
{a.tûht} as
. {a.tût}
