UKT notes
• The pair of vowels involved here is an {a.þa.wun}-pair. The difference in
vowel sound (or "tone") is not due to the "length" (short/long) of the vowel,
but to the height of the tongue body (high/low). For the "high-tone" [ɔ] , the three pitch-registers of Burmese-Myanmar
are
{ko.}{ko}{ko:}.
And, for the "low-tone" we have
{kau.}{kau}{kau:}. The Burmese "high-tone" which sounded [ɔ] to me can be
approximated by Sanskrit-Devanagari को , and the "low-tone" which sounded [ɑ] by
कौ . The problem becomes more pronounced because of the
Burmese-Myanmar way of representation
is not at all logical. If it were it should have
been:
or
. The result is:
{kau.}{kau}{kau:} of Romabama. The diagram on the right shows my analysis based upon my
understanding of the Sanskrit-Devanagari, which in all probability might be
changed upon further work with Sanskrit and Hindi speakers. -- UKT 100427

From Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaustubha 100428
Kaustubha (alternatively Kaustubh, Koustubh) is a divine jewel - the most valuable stone "Mani" is in the possession of lord Vishnu who lives in the Ksheer Sagar - "the ocean of milk".
It is believed that Gods and Asuras, churned the ocean (known as Samudra manthan in Hindu Mythology) to get Amrita (Dev: अमृत), fourteen treasures (ratnas) emerged from the ocean. The fourth Ratna that was emerged is known as Kaustubha.
Kaustubham is the 'Mani'. Kaustubha is the person who is wearing that Mani. That is no other than Lord Vishnu. Due to Kaustubha Lord Vishnu is saved from dridhti of Saturn who is Brahma's creation who again is a creation of Lord Vishnu himself.
