- m. [√sth] broad part, breadth (V.); -ira, a. (, V.; , V., C.) broad, thick, stout (V., rarely E.); mighty (V.); (full-grown), old, aged, venerable, respected (V., C., but not in RV.): e kle or bhve, in old age; (sthv)-ishtha, spv. (of sth-ra or sth-la) thickest, largest, stoutest; very thick or solid; (sthv)-yas, cpv. thicker, stouter, mightier.
