- a. having only libations of water (to ancestors) in common, distantly related: -bhva, m. this kind of distant relationship; -̮udarya, a. descended from the same mother; m. uterine brother; -upam, f. simile in which the common term though identical in sound must be interpreted in two senses (e. g. in ʻbl̮iva̮udynaml slaknana-sobhinʼ slaknana=sa̮alaka̮nana and sla-knana).


समान्त [sam̮anta]
- m. end of the year; -̮antara, 1. n. interval of a year: lc. within a year; 2. a̮antara, a. having a constant difference, being the unit of measurement (samntaras ka purushas turaṅgas tri-samntarah, man forms the unit, a horse has three units, i. e. is equal to three men).
